Privacy Policy
Version 1.0. Effective date: November 1, 2026
This policy explains what information Paddle & Pixel collects through this website, how we use it, who helps us handle it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website and to the enquiries you send us through it.
Who we are
Paddle & Pixel is a web studio in Ottawa, Ontario, operated by Paddle & Pixel Inc.
The owner of Paddle & Pixel Inc. is responsible for how we handle personal information. For privacy questions or requests:
- email [email protected]
- or write to Paddle & Pixel Inc., 499 Preston St., Ottawa, ON K1S 4N7
Information we collect
When you send an enquiry through our contact form, we collect:
- your name and email address
- your business name, phone number and existing website address, if you give them
- the service you choose and, if you started from one of our pricing cards, the package you picked
- your approximate budget, if you choose one
- what you tell us about your project
We also note the date and time your enquiry was sent. We don’t ask for payment details or sensitive personal information through this website, so please don’t include them in your message. If you email us directly, we receive whatever is in your email.
When you browse the website, our hosting provider receives the technical information any website needs to deliver pages and protect itself from abuse, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We don’t use it to identify you.
How we use your information
We use the information you send us to:
- respond to your enquiry and questions
- discuss services that may suit your business
- prepare a homepage concept, quote or proposal you’ve asked for
- communicate with you about services you’ve requested
- keep the business records we need
We don’t sell your information. Sending an enquiry doesn’t add you to a mailing list, and we don’t use it to send you promotional emails. If we ever offer a newsletter or promotions, we’ll ask for your permission first, and every message will identify us and include a way to unsubscribe.
Service providers and sharing
We use service providers for website hosting, spam protection and email. They handle your information to provide these services to us and may keep their own service records.
Our providers may store or process your information outside Canada, including in the United States, where local authorities may be able to access it. We may also share information when the law requires it.
Storage and security
Your enquiry reaches us by email and is kept in our business email account, which only the owner can access. We protect your information with reasonable safeguards, such as encrypted connections, spam protection and 2-step verification on our accounts. No website or email system can be guaranteed completely secure.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to a project: we keep them for up to 12 months after our last message about them, then delete them.
- Clients: we keep project and business records for seven years after the end of the tax year they relate to, to meet tax and legal requirements, then delete them.
Your privacy rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, subject to any legal duty to keep certain records. Send your request to [email protected]; we may need to confirm your identity first.
We’ll respond within 30 calendar days of receiving your request. Canadian privacy law allows an extension of up to 30 more days only in specific circumstances, for example when meeting the deadline would unreasonably interfere with our business, or when we need to consult others to respond. If that happens, we’ll tell you before the first 30 days are up, explain why, and let you know you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Cookies and tracking
This website doesn’t set its own cookies and doesn’t use analytics, advertising or social media tracking. If that ever changes, we’ll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Links to other websites take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our website or services change. We’ll post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change significantly affects how we use information you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you by email before it applies.
